TORELLÓ together with 8 other well-known cellars like Gramona, Llopart, Nadal, Recaredo, Sabaté i Coca, Can Feixes, Júlia Bernet and Mas Candí we decided to leave the Cava DO on the 30th of January of this month.
As you may well know in April 2018 together with our colleagues we presented the collective EU brand CORPINNAT with very strict regulations which intend to place sparkling wines born in the heart of the Penedès amongst the best in the world. In these months there have been many wine and gastronomy professionals who with their enthusiasm have encouraged us to go ahead with this project arising from our collective passion.
It will be next spring when the first bottles of TORELLÓ will be launched with the CORPINNAT label which will read: “Grown in a historical Barcelona wine valley” Also, the back labels will mention the date of disgorging in order to guarantee quality and provide more information to the consumer of the long ageing time of the sparkling wine. For a few months, though there will be bottles with the Cava and the new CORPINNAT brand coexisting in the market.
Our logo has also evolved and it is now TORELLÓ VITICULTORS with the aim of highlighting the fact our family have been viticulturists since 1395 more than 600 years dedicated to winegrowing in our Can Martí estate of 135 hectares in the municipality of Gelida-Alt Penedès.
This way, both the territory and the strict commitment to quality are the key elements of this new collective brand, and in the case of TORELLÓ, we have been fulfilling these undertakings since 1951, Mr. Francesc Torelló started making sparkling wine.
